Herby "Delbert" Jeffries Jr.

87 Neosho, died Monday, January 9, 2012, at Freeman Neosho Hospital. He was born July 7, 1924, in Quinlan, Okla., to Herby Delbert Jeffries Sr. and Ethel Gladys (Nickerson) Jeffries. Mr. Jeffries was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for valor. Following discharge from the Army, he worked in construction. He moved to the Neosho area in the early 1960's from Oswego, Kan. He was a member of Local Union #27, Independence, Missouri, American Legion and V.F.W. #4142, in Neosho, and a member of Burch Baptist Church.
 Delbert and Bessie Marie (Adams) were married in 1962 in Miami, Okla. Bessie preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2009. He was also preceded in death by a son, Ronnie.
 He is survived by three children, Keith Jeffries, Neosho, Joyce Kimball, Covington, Tenn., and Danny Jeffries, Neosho; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Jeffries, Hammond, Ind., and Ann Weaver, Wichita, Kan.; and a brother Jack Jeffries, Oswego, Kan.

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at Clark Chapel of Memories, Neosho, with Rev. Floyd Barnard officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors.
 Friends may call at the funeral home in Neosho, from 9 a.m. -    7p.m.
