Wayne W. Loving
Wayne W. Loving of Mission,
Kansas passed away on September 17, 2007 at
K.U. Medical Center of heart failure. Visitation will be at Porter
Funeral Home,
1835 Minnesota on Thursday evening between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Interment
will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 38th and State, Friday at 9:30 a.m.
Wayne was
born on February 6, 1943 to Asa H. Loving and Vera Horosko Loving.
Wayne
attended Riverview Elementary, Central Junior High School and
Wyandotte High
School. He was a tremendous athlete excelling in baseball,
basketball and
football. He was the first athlete to win four varsity letters while
at
Wyandotte. He was All-State in baseball, basketball and football. He
also was
MVP at the state basketball championship in 1961 when Wyandotte set
a national
record with five consecutive titles. In 1961 he was named "Athlete
of the Year"
in the state of Kansas. After high school, Wayne attended the
University of Kansas on a football and basketball scholarship. He
was a member of the K-Club and
a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. After leaving KU, Wayne
joined the
United States Air Force, where he served our country during the Viet
Nam War,
being stationed in Taipei, Taiwan. After his honorable discharge he
became a
member of L. V. #27 Heat and Frost Insulators. He worked in this
industry for 35
years prior to retiring to play golf, travel and enjoy life. Wayne
was a member
of the HOGS (Heroes of Golf Society) for 20 years. The HOGS, his
many, many
friends, family and his surviving brother, James, will sorely miss
him and his
offbeat humor. Always a Bulldog. Always a Jayhawk. Always a Dot.
